self expression through space "Dream Space"

Preliminary Ideation

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

After deciding a narrative "dominant", I see things in a different perspective. Using abstract as a view on designs, dominant could represent myself in many ways whereby one overtakes the other.

These ideas generate along the way and it helped me on proceeding to making forms and shapes that could suit the narrative in many ways.

During the start of the assignment, it was hard to think of an idea to go along with a narrative that is dedicated for a hideout or a dream space. Therefore, I used a tissue paper to come out with forms that could possibly generate some ideas on a narrative.

NARRATIVE

INTERIM

With the initial idea of dominant to start off with, I discover myself in a deeper meaning and looked into what could be included in a design.

NARRATIVE
Dominant without convection

Convection brings the meaning of normal, which I proposed the opposite of what it is supposed to be. Buildings and structures that are rigid, cube form is not what represents me. Like buildings with free form or not rigid, normal-looking structure, I don't take lead if I need to, while I can be both a listener and also a teammate.

FINAL MODEL "DREAM SPACE"+ BOARD

DESIGN ELEMENTS

1) Slanting Walls

-With slanted walls, the idea of convection in buildings breaks the norms of cubic buildings.

2) Hierarchy

-The structure reveals a hierarchy that shows dominance and priority because of its' floors and three-strorey structure

3) Strong on the outside, Weak on the inside

-North side of the structure contains more solid while south elevation shows the fragility of glass panels. It explains my personality of I can be tough and strong on the outside but weak on the inside

USER: Public, private spaces

CLIMATE: Tropical, Warm and Humid Climate

PURPOSE: A place to negotiate, relax and a space to think thoroughly (interact-relax-chill)
