GAZEBO

Taman Tugu Negara Project is a multi-component not-for-profit corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad in collaboration with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) with the support of various stakeholders. The 66-acre urban forest park will offer a fresh public green space for the Malaysian community – to use, to enjoy, to experience to own.

In group of 4,

we are to design TWO (2) GAZEBOS (one (1) for active zone and one (1) passive zone) that will be located within the 27 hectares Taman Tugu. These will serve as iconic features of the park, which is second to none.

The design requirements shall be as follows:

 

Capacity & Dimensions (for each zone)

- Minimum capacity for 10 people

- Dimension: within an area of 3m x 3m

- Ancillary functions such as bike racks, planting areas etc. can be considered as a part of the design

 

Construction Materials

- Meet fire standards and shall be non-combustible, low heat emission material and have a Class 0 surface spread of flame.

- Ease of maintenance

- Vandal resistant

- Sustainable and aged well

 

Fabrication & Installation

- Simplicity in construction

- Exposure to elements of the outdoor environment

- Ease of cleaning & maintenance of functional and structural integrity, including general safety within the park environment.

The submission requirements for this project (max 8 pieces of A3) shall include:

1. One (1) Design Statement Summary/Concept (not more than 150 words)

2. A series of 2D diagrams - Diagrammatic explanation of the composition of Space and Form, ideas for materials or additional features

3. Two (2) sets of architectural drawings (one (1) set for active zone & one (1) set for passive zone)

- inclusive of floor plan(s), section(s), 4 elevations (with dimensions), and perspectives, which must be hand drawn and beautifully rendered. Scale 1:50

4. A series of models (1:50 scale) a minimum of 4 (for each zone), which includes: 3 process models and a final model.

The final model must be beautifully crafted with balsa or model board or perspex or brown board, etc to be left in their natural colour and to be mounted on an A3 MDF board
