Learning through play 

Designing a space through the understanding of re-purposed materials and their relationship to the crafting of spaces as setting for children’s experience

 

In a group of 3, we are to identify several main aspects of the structure – use, size, design requirements, etc. To ensure fit for users and ways to do it. The activities that are proposed to children for suitability. How does the materiality respond to the natural elements of the physical environment? To create a design using secondary building materials. 

This assignment is intended to explore the endless possibilities of using abandoned steel shipping containers which have outlived their usefulness as cargo carriers.

 

Given the freedom to create symbiotic composition with other recyclable materials of choice as well. It is to develop awareness of environmental sustainability through the responsible and innovative use of reclaimable and re purposed materials in relation to user needs.

1. Conceptual thinking

2. Programmatic response (fulfilling criteria of the required program; design respond to user needs) 3. Poetic response (consideration of the qualities and composition of the materials to inform the user experiences of the architecture)

4. Contextual response (consideration of environmental and psycho-social needs which inform architectural spaces and form)

an overall model at 1:20 scale (to include the 50m sq base)

Eidos - form & shape

Skopeo - to look to, to examine In short: observation of beautiful form

 

 

DESIGN AS A SOLUTION

To explore the unlimited possibilities of endless imagination of  informal learning And exposure of different approach of play for children & adolescents in the rural area AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FUTURE Children are not exposed to creative learning despite attending formal education in a school compound. This learning capsule encourages dissimilar and contrasting activities
